A money hang-up

I was so confused about money when I was young. I’m wondering if some of you don’t feel the same. I was raised mostly comfortably middle class. My parents had enough money to send both of their daughters to private colleges. But being in one, I got to know some wealthy classmates and they tended to be a little judgmental about job and status. Any of you have trouble with snobs? Really, I think they just don’t believe in themselves and defend it by saying a job is low class. It can be too easy to buy your way out of a problem.

I was always the poorest kid in any class I was in and the other kids let me know it. Returning to poverty is an ongoing fear of mine.

I was one of the poorest kids in my high school. We were a lower middle class family who rented so we didnt have to pay school tax. I was lucky and went to a good school but it was all really rich kids. I mean driving hummers to school rich. The student parking lot cars were nicer than the teachers cars. It was ridiculous. I hated it. A bunch of white, privileged rich kids. Most of whom tried to act ghetto. I hated high school. It did a lot of mental damage to me.

Money just equalled getting high to me when I was younger.

I did anything to get it to feed my habit

Now I have great respect for it

Sometimes I do spend more than I like, and I go into spending hibernation for a bit

But I count every penny in a spreadsheet, and I know exactly what I have to spend money on for the next 6 months

The trick is keeping my job going!

If I fail at it, then that’s it for me

Anyways, I know what it’s like to have nothing, and appreciate the wrongs I have done before in the pursuit of that ‘next high’

My tip with work/money is that I try and work my budget like I did when I was still on a low wage

So that extra money goes away for emergency

Like me not working for a bit this year. I was able to keep afloat even though the benefits were very slow to kick in

The people who get a wage rise and then lease a car, get another wage rise then buy a bigger house? The economy needs idiots who live beyond their means, but that’s not going to be me.

I have respect that what is here today might not be tomorrow.
