I just got up. As i came into the living room i went through the hallway and was greeted by a gigantic wasp.
When i mean gigantic i mean absaloutly massive. Ive never seen anything like it in my life.
My partner is still in bed. Me and qwertle have locked ourselves in the living room.
Im unsure what to do cos i googled it and apparently its some sort of hornet that is very agressive.

Yeah that is scary. I’d imagine opening windows and using something like a broom or something you maybe able to get it outside where it belongs. Saying that it’s in your house so taking care of it otherwise is probably wise. We often use a rolled up newspaper to get rid of such things. Be quick and you usually can get them…I’m not sure of your hornets but we deal with a lot of different critters so I’d have a crack at it.

The picture really doesnt do it justice. However i think this may be an asian hornet which should not be in the UK so ive reported it.

That looks like a European hornet to me, not the scary Asian one. But still, it looks kinda unfriendly.

Your right. I got a reply back from the people i reported it to. They looked at the picture and it is a european hornet.

Those are terrifying. They aren’t usually aggressive, but the sting is very painful.

I bought a book on wasps. They are important.
But I say death to this hornet. I bet it packs a powerful sting.

Ewwww… I hate anything with a thorax.
Hope the wasp is gone now @Qwerty
ETA: apparently humans also have thoraxes, haha!
Bugs. I just really dislike bugs.

Oh dear! I don’t like flying bugs (or crawling or slithering bugs. I don’t even like dead bugs!). Anyhow, I hope you got the problem worked out.

Yes! You don’t want it to become an invasive species. They can wreak havoc on an ecosystem.

I have some wasp and hornet spray that reaches out about ten feet when you spray it. I also intend to use it as a self defense weapon in case someone trespasses on my private space. I think it is about as powerful as pepper spray in that regard.
