91 IQ only

I only have a 91 IQ. Any advice?

I think that among us szā€™s our IQā€™s can vary over time. I wouldnā€™t worry about it. The whole idea of IQ is overrated.

IQ tests miss lots of important stuff. I have an uncle who probably has the same IQ as you - and heā€™s the nicest, most friendly guy Iā€™ve ever met; everyone who meets him loves him; heā€™s great at telling jokes; he and his wife and kids all love each other dearly; he had a long, satisfying career; and he pursues lots of hobbies that he really enjoys. Yet an IQ test would sum him up and say, ā€œheā€™s a 91ā€. Well yeah heā€™s a 91 in one way, but like a 10,000 in another way, perhaps a far more important way.

Iā€™m smart in some ways but also way dumber in others since meds and diagnosis. Still. I donā€™t do too badly and it sometimes doesnā€™t pay to put your faith in such things. Iā€™ve met plenty of really smart people who have no common sense for example which can be just as detrimental.

91 is normal. Stop trying to reassure him that the tests are bad, guys. Youā€™re sending the wrong message. A score of 91 shows a perfectly normal intellectual functioning.

I wouldnā€™t trust an iq test anyway. Just cos you flop their tests it doesnā€™t mean you arenā€™t proficient in other fields.

True, and a high IQ doesnā€™t guarantee success or even intelligent behavior.

I wonā€™t take my iq seriously. In Godā€™s eyes we are all created equal. He is no respecter of IQ. I just wish my IQ was 134. :expressionless:

With the advancements in technology one day it wont matter what our iq is but our ability to operate the apps that enhance our academic ability. But we need super smart people to work on that stuff
I think my iq is average but my common sense is quite good

I wouldnā€™t put much stock into IQ tests. It is a really bad way to try and measure intelligence. Donā€™t be disheartened.

According to IQ tests im thick as shite. But i can suss most people out within five minutes of meeting them in person. The eyes always give it away. A skill learnt over many years of being conned.

Hence the tag line that goes with my name I just hope @GEDchill can gain something helpful through participating here.

Indeed. But isnā€™t it the case that it is a fairly good predictor of success in work and studies in the general population? Clearly us sz have complicating issues.

Growing up in elementary school they always had these ā€˜objectiveā€™ (objective?) nationwide tests.

I scored in the 99 percentile. Once you reach college and especially work, youā€™re surrounded by really smart people.

Itā€™s a pyramidā€¦in a sense. In the end or me just looking back I now wish I put more energy and investment in social ability, heck Iā€™ll just say it, Being POPULAR.

It sounds wrong, but itā€™s what I see looking back on my life.

And donā€™t even get me started on Emotional Quotient(EQ); bc nobody in business knows what that even is!

According to my father I regularly performed around the 150 range as a child. My social ability has always been much lower though. Iā€™d be a candidate for the most unpopular boy in the 456 year history of the private school I went to .

Being online papers over some of the cracks, compared to F2F interaction, but the truth is Iā€™ll never win any prizes for popularity.

Youā€™re IQ or simply passion and research unlocked a door into my understanding of myself, with the dyspraxia, and how when I move, I donā€™t come across as being comfortable in my own skin.

I like myself more thinking itā€™s electrical, in my brain, and not something more negative or deeper seated.

Now if I could only solve why I blush sometimes, Iā€™d be batting 1.000!!

I already thanked you for this stuff, but wanted to sound less confrontational. Maybe Iā€™ll take an IQ test if youā€™re so compelled to repost one??!

Thatā€™s something Iā€™ve never been dxed with, but certainly fit the criteria for. My stepdaughter says that I walk like Iā€™m drunk, and Iā€™m the clumsiest person she has known.

Yes, it is. The two mainstream IQ tests, which are the most widely used and scientifically sound ones, are very good predictors of success and academic achievement. The last number I saw with regard to academic performance in college was a correlation of .40, which is actually very high. The Wechsler and Stanford-Binet tests are excellent psychometric tests and by far the best way to measure intelligence. The scores from these tests are among the most reliable of any psychometric tests and the tests have very good validity as well.

It is common to hear that IQ tests are bad at estimating intelligence but those statements are rarely backed up with any kind of evidence. There are numerous issues with these tests, such as cultural biases and their content validity (there are facets of intelligence that are not easily measured), but they are excellent tests and do measure intelligence.

An IQ of 91 is in the average range, however, and is not a barrier to success.
