i have schizoaffective bipolar type with good prognostic features . wish it could be the two year mark so i could ask my pdoc if i ccould try to get off meds. hate haveing this disease every day i just cant live this sedated . Im glad i only had 2-3 episodes only once hallucinated images and voices. one was more religious. i hope to one day try homeopathy and manage it that way or at least lower my dose enough so i can function
If you already have had more than one episode, you should probably stay on meds.
9 months for me as well. I’ve been symptom free for the past 7 months since I snapped out of psychosis/delusion. From January I’m reducing my dosage of Invega then coming off completely. Hopefully I don’t relapse.
coming off compleatly after less than one year on meds?? nice
It is a risk to stop meds. Often if you have to go back on, you need more the next time around.
Have you talked with your doctor about the sedation? You could try a less sedating med, or you can take something to help with the sedation, like Modafinil.
According to my doctor, schizophrenics need meds. They always have symptoms that never go away. He’s not convinced I schizophrenia but SZA or maybe pure bipolar (less likely). No one in my family thinks I have bipolar.
I dont necessarily agree with him. He may be old school, but I truly wonder how many people are misdiagnosed.
Maybe I have the lazy gene or something from my mom. She doesnt work either. My dad mentioned this today. Maybe it’s not totally sza. He says I always have an excuse for not working. I feel like i had severe traumatic experiences, especially in my past lives. Maybe my substance induced psychosis was very traumatic for me. I literally went insane ( from my perspective). Maybe i remembered something from my past lives.
My moms a good person.
Congrats on getting better.
i dont think homeopathy will help. but maybe if you develop good coping skills you will be able to do it
