9/20/2023: Forum Status Update

All,
Here is a Forum status update from @SzAdmin that we hope helps allay concerns of our forum members regarding the forum.

“No forum issues now - the short term funding crunch is over, and will be resolved entirely when we move to a lower cost self-managed / self-hosted solution. Please communicate this to the forum members.”

Hello folks. I would also like to note that we are keeping our promise of maintaining updates externally on Threads in case something goes sideways with the forums again. (We certainly hope not, but…) You will not need an account on Threads to view these updates:

We are only announcing major changes or updates on this account.

Thank you for the update!

Thank you to @Moonbeam for noticing incorrect dates on our Threads feed. All dates are 2023, not 2022. An update has been posted to correct that. This is why I have training wheels right now and @Moonbeam does not.

The biggest worry with the self hosting/self managed thing is who is going to do it and will they be doing it FOC? also what happens if that person cant do it anymore,

You remind me a bit of myself. I tend to worry alot about what-ifs. I find that approach just stresses me out more and is not the best use of my time and energy.

I know what you mean but i still think its best to be prepared, have a safety net, a backup plan.

That’s Funny,

I was being serious though

I don’t know how hard it is to self host and maintain the forum and I’m guessing someone has volunteered or something for it already and they will have to have a certain knowledge of these things.

So will that person(s) be given any reward for their efforts? or is it like a moderator duty where they volunteer out of the goodness of their heart?
