57 in April...how did I get here?

I feel lucky that I am in good health at my age…I always go to the doctor and I think that’s really helped…just as poor as I’ve always been for the last twenty plus years but I am confident that life is getting better. I have friends and family to lean on and we are very close. not so bad for 57. I think of my brother who died last year. He got into heavy drugs while working in the oil field and it enlarged his heart so he couldn’t make it to be here today now. Some aren’t so lucky.

Yeah you blink and you miss it! I’m 49 in July. Never ever had a notion of being that old when I was younger. I really couldn’t picture myself past 30 or so but that really went quick. Not as quick as my forties though.

Sounds like you’ve earned some wisdom there. That is a good place to be…ie content with things!

It’s funny. Your childhood seems to last forever, but when you hit your working years (early twenties) the time just flashes by…year after year tumbles…and in a blink of an eye you are middle age.

I’m 20 in May… 2 whole decades. Damn. Though to be honest, I kind of feel like it’s been more like 20 decades. I’ve been ill for the most recent 25% of my life, so it’s not surprising that life up to this point seems to be dragging on. I want that number to get lower and lower as time goes on.

thank you everyone… @Sardonic wow you are so young…I thought you were older…you are very smart for your age !!

I turned 20 years old in 1986!

With good health @Sardonic, there’s a chance you will live in three centuries. I know that sounds strange, but if you live to 101 years old…you’ll do it!

Ha, thanks for saying that, however I don’t think there’s a such thing as an intelligent young adult. The two are practically oxymorons.

Lol I think about that all the time. I’m torn between wanting to go earlier so I don’t end up sick for the last years of my life and wanting to live past 100 in order to be able to say that I lived in 3 different centuries.

You’re very well spoken for your age. I believe this affliction stunts your growth in some areas, but expands and matures it in other ways.

I like your quiet…and sometimes not so quiet confidence.

Ha, I don’t know how that happened because I hate reading more than I hate dumb people physics.

Lol, in reality I’m really rather arrogant. I’ve been working to be more humble. It’s not like I did anything special to acquire “intelligence,” so really I have nothing to be bragging about anyways.

You’re just missing life experience. That will come…you’ll hit your stride around the age of thirty or so probably.

That’s the fun part about this getting older business…eventually we just become who we truly are.

My daughters will be 15 years old in July. I’ve always told them “You might have to kiss a few frogs before you find your Prince”.

It’s my innocent way of preparing them for adulthood I suppose.
