57 cents a pound as opposed to $12 a pound

I was laying down before bedtime and suddenly had a craving for turkey. I thought I would find one easily but Safeway doesn’t stock them; neither do Lucky, Smart & Final, Walmart or Trader Joes. WTH? You mean I can only eat turkey one day a year on Thanksgiving Day? Amazon has them if I’m willing to pay $90 (which I’m not). I did a more thorough search and found one place where I can get a 13 pound frozen turkey for $30 but I would bet good money that shipping & handling would be $20 or $30. Around Thanksgiving I paid 57 cents a pound, now they are seriously charging $9 or $10 a lb or more. I’m very disillusioned, I’ll probably wait another 3 months and then buy a cheap turkey. I’m really craving it now though.

Sorry, nick. I wanted turkey, too, and I managed to find what I wanted: just the breast. If you are okay with white meat vs dark meat, I find that the breasts are easier to locate out of season. Best of luck.

Supply and demand my man haha a cup of water is worth all you got in the desert. I guess everyone slaughters their turkeys around holiday times to cash in which means they’re a dime a dozen. Now they’re probably still feeding them probably so few actually slaughtered rn. Obviously… Just saying tho haha it is quite a price jump tho yea.

Maybe you can buy 3 turkeys a day after the holidays for even cheaper and ration it out through the next couple months.

Turkey is available all year round here, but not affordable around holidays. We buy and freeze a turkey after a holiday for the next one.

That’s weird, prices go way down here near Thanksgiving and Christmas.

What about the deli Turkey for sandwiches would that satisfy your cravings?

No, that stuff is usually sliced so thin it has no taste to it.

I bought some turkey legs not too long ago but they cost four pounds of gold and my first born son.

Not for Canadians. Holidays are when the $15 turkey is a $55 turkey. Our grocery supply is monopolized by a handful of large chains and they price gouge.

Yeah, near the holidays even hams go down in price and other things do too like cranberry sauce and other fixings.

For me it costed my left nut.
