Anyone take klonopin regularly?

I have a real trouble with anxiety. Klonopin deals with this brilliantly but my current doc doesn’t like to prescribe benzos long term. My old doc, who at one point was an addiction specialist, had no problem prescribing benzos long term. He said their therapeutic value outweighed the possibility of tolerance. In fact he would put up my dose every few months to tackle this.

My family doctor also had no probs with giving me klonopin regularly, as did another locum. However my current doc does not. The anxiety is crippling and the odd occasions where I get a temporary prescription are like holidays from my illness. Is it wrong to want this feeling for the long term?

I mean if my current doc is hesitant because of litigation I will happily sign a waiver? Is there president of this?

My doc prescribes me klonapin to take regularly. I take .5 mg twice a day. I don’t understand why your doc refuses to in small doses.

My doc gives me 1.25 a day PRN. I take 1 mg when I wake up and another .25 in the early afternoon. Seems to be the magical trick to prevent panic attacks.

I used to take 0.5mg four times a day. The problem is the nearest town to me has a huge black market for prescription medicine. As a result the docs aren’t keen to dispense benzos (regardless of the fact I have nothing to do with those circles).

Do you think I should tell my new doc that my old pdoc had no problems giving benzos? I don’t want to undermine him or ■■■■ him off. I just hate getting heaped in the pile of so called “benzo abusers” when really I only want to use them therapeuticly.

Yeah I can see where that might piss him off. If the town you live in has a huge black market, I can see why your doc may be apprehensive. I would not take it personally though. I don’t think he is lumping you in with a pile of “druggies”, he is just concerned for the public wellbeing.

I don’t think there could be a lawsuit against a doctor because anti-anxiety med’s caused addiction. I was on Klonopin for a while. My pdoc took me off of it because I told him I had given a couple to this girl who was jonesing for heroin. I should have known better. It wasn’t too hard to come off. He weaned me off it gradually. I wish I could get back on it, but there is no chance of that.

I was prescribed 3 mg a day. I knew one guy who was prescribed 8 mg. He took it haphazardly, and as a result he had wild mood swings. He was a big guy, and when he got anxious he got very hostile. I guess that’s why they prescribed such a heavy dose.

I take Klonopin regularly - everyday, I rely on it now more than ever because my Anxiety is very high lately.
I do not take a lot of it, because it makes me doped up too much, because I take other sedating meds.

I spread a small amount throughout the day - it helps, but makes me feel drugged too much

I feel your agony. I had a bout of insomnia that lasted 14 nights . The worst experience of my life, and I had lots of bad experiences.

However my pdoc prescribed me 3mg in fact you can take upwards of 6mg. But I need it at night because when I try to sleep anxiety kicks in. I do not take any during the day, and I cannot rest without klonopin. Just 1mg is great relief 0.5 did very little but before bed I take 2 mg grams.
