Zombie meds

No and I don’t do drugs either.

No but its still a dopamine blocker and my pdr won’t change my meds, he said there is no meds for negative and cognitive symptoms.

It’s a very dangerous idea to mess with your meds @Aziz.
Just take your meds on time.

I lol’ed at your question earlier because it’s such a no brainer for the way I feel. From what I feel I think it’s extremely better to be off meds and go to the hospital every now and then, than it is it be on meds and feel like crap all of the time. The boredom effect that every psych med has on me is just overwhelming and it feels too boring to live. Almost nothing is enjoyable and I live every single day in agony. It’s terrible man. I’m always warned about the ‘Dangers’ of being off meds but, I feel worse, and a genuine danger to to myself when I’m on them. My positive symptoms just aren’t that bad when I’m off them, and the motivation you get is just awesome. It doesn’t take much to be satisfied with what you have and you tend to enjoy the little things alot. I saw on a facebook post in a schizophrenia group that this guys psychiatrist was making him take meds because “You are enjoying your life too much”. That was monumental evidence for me that these people don’t care about our wellbeing. It feels like there’s something else that’s making them say that, but I can’t really say who or what. All I know is that once you get rid of a toxoplasmosis infection, whether it causes schizophrenia or not, that many aspects of your life are faster. I would assume that means intelligence as well.

Can psych meds actually prevent that? I’ve seen other forum members who have cognitive issues, and they seem to be stable with zero paranoia. I assume they were taking their meds already. Maybe we need to start a new post about that

It’s my understanding that antipsychotics can help prevent brain damage from psychosis

How bad was his? From what I’ve seen he’s only talked about the times that he has found himself in a situation where he had to go to the hospital. But before those times, he was mostly just saying that he lives on the edge sometimes. Honestly, I’d rather be scared, than bored. Being paranoid only sucks when you’re about to be robbed/assaulted.

I call it brain damage even if its more chemical than physical. What I mean is that meds lower dopamine to very low lvls which gives me severe negative and mild cognitive symptoms. The only way to fix these is to boost dopamine back to normal lvls but that then causes psychosis. I experimented this two ways, by decreasing meds and by using a dopamine boosting supplement.

The brain is basically permanently broken bcz of sz and the dopamine system.

Meds are the lesser of two evils

I too feel better off meds for a little while…until the psychosis slowly creeps in. The body stores residues of the drug, but when it’s all gone the psychosis comes.

You might consider trying lower doses of your current med, maybe taking a lower dose every other day might help you.

I’m gonna ask my doc for both 5 and 2.5mg zyprexa so I can alternate my dose between 7.5 and 5mg. Even small changes can better life quality.
