I had the Stretch Armstrong green monster toy that you could pull and stretch out it’s body. I loved that thing for some reason…who knew that it was just rubber filled with corn syrup?

I had plastic soldiers from the north and south states. Some Indians and cowboys. I set up all kinds of scenery with trees and animals and forts.

I sure wanted one, but my mother didn’t like “male” toys. I had LEGO, art supplies, and I cooked things when my mom wasn’t paying attention (that was a lot). She nearly had kittens the one time she came home from work and I had baked chocolate chip cookies from start to finish on my own without her there and they turned out fine. Still got yelled at for using the oven unsupervised. I am pretty sure I was six as I remember being in grade one. The kitchen was my playground more than anything else.

Indian version of Lego. It was Peacock toys or something. Priced for Indian market. Original Lego sets were expensive then.

I could spend hours every day playing with my wooden blocks, Lincoln Logs and plastic toy soldiers.

A slot car set I got in third grade was pretty cool.
