I went to London in August 1987 and visited many discos there. Somehow I think that those were golden years. Do you recall the 1980s and discos?
Yes I remember going to them. Looking back they were more tragic than glamorous !
My trip to London was great. I was there with my girlfriend at the time. I liked walking in Soho and going to different places. I actually liked those discos there. Well, one can not get one’s youth back.
I miss the coke…and the women…
I remember the 80’s and discos very well. It was the best time of my life.
Apart from school discos in the 80s (girls on one wall of the hall, boys on the other), I didn’t start going clubbing until the rave/house scene started. Paid 15 pounds for a lemsip capsule on one occasion.
Disco never happened !!!
I went to Studio 54 in NYC once with a friend during the 1970s.
It was a crowded nightmare for me.
My anxiety was in overdrive!
I remember them but I never set foot in one.
The disco years were certainly the golden age of music though.
Oh boy…

Disco was fading in North America just as I turned 18. Eurodance was the big thing by the time I was DJing in clubs in my late teens and early twenties. I remember seeing the disco shows on TV when I was like 12 or 13 and they were godawful.
Oh yeah, the Bee Gees and John Travolta, All That Jazz.
It seems tacky in hindsight, but there was a good energy about it
Thanks wave for the Post @Wave , that was a great mix of songs
Makes me feel nostalgic
I remember roller discos! I was and always will be a bad dancer but I could skate…Funny how roller skating used to be big over here. It’s where you failed to meet members of the other sex and did your thing. The horror. The horror
Yes, age 13 first night out…
Berlin 1988
The DJ was in half a red sports car, (the decks)
There was a spiral staircase to another level
I had my first cocktail a pina colada
I did that
Lemon And lime
Used to be huge in my town. We had our own rink. Us kids would be there every weekend. I always sucked at roller limbo. ![]()
That place has since shut down. One more roller rink north east of me and that one is nice but I have a feeling its days are numbered. Hope not but probably.
From about 1986 to about 1998 I had a total blast at the gay and lesbian clubs that played all dance music. Fun times, fun memories.
