Wow. I’m trying to figure out if this is discrimination or not

Meditation communities are notorious for refusing schizophrenics.

Personally I meditate sometimes for 5-10 minutes and that is okay, but I think I would go psychotic if I would meditate for hours.

In my case meditation makes me even more sensitive and susceptible for psychotic things.

I have an acquaintance who went to a Buddhist community and meditated from dawn till evening and got his first psychosis there. It happens.

Yeah, @Jonathan2 , I’ve never meditated longer than an hour. I just never realized meditation could cause harm

Yes. I think that’s discrimination.
Many years ago I was searching in internet the requirements to adopt a baby in China and it said you are not suitable if you have schizophrenia or bipolar disorder. And I know I could have been a good mother, better than many others who don’t have a mental illness.

I think meditation can be useful as well. I want to try some meditation again as well. I believe it can help. But for me personally, I have to be careful with certain spiritual/religious ideas and practices. And be alert to my own responses.
