What is the worst portrayal of schizophrenia that you can ever recall seeing in a movie?
Why was it bad?

I haven’t seen any movies accurately show negative symptoms.
Thomas Schiff | Villains Wiki | Fandom.
Good movie though.
I don’t know about the worst, but caveman’s valentine with Samuel l Jackson was the best I’ve seen and he’s the main character.
THE CULT OF CHUCKY. Lol, they thought she killed them people and it was the doll!
As much as I love the technique and filmmaking behind the movie “Psycho,” I absolutely hate the reputation it has given schizophrenics.
And Norman Bates didn’t even have sz!
Norman Bates in Psycho has to be the gold standard and the character blazed the trail for other horrible portrayals. Honorable mention to Donnie Darko for a crappy supernatural take on the illness.
I dunno how you can watch any movie with a schizophrenic character. Brings up too many emotions for me.
Everyone seems to love “A Beautiful Mind”.
I think people with schizophrenia kind of relate in some ways,
But more want to relate because he’s a successful genius.
I have audio and visual hallucinations and found the portrayal far too “Hollywood”.
Don’t like that movie.
There is a movie out there that I’ve only seen once on IFC back in the early 2000s.
It was about a guy with schizophrenia and was the most accurate I’ve seen.
However, I can never find the movie and don’t remember it’s name.
My sister has seen the movie too and agreed about it’s portrayal.
Wish I could say what it was.
But it was really, really weird.
Loved both A Beautiful Mind and Donnie Darko …
Thought Words on Bathroom Walls was an awful schizophrenia based movie
Words on Bathroom Walls prompted the thread, actually.
It may be the worst portrayal that I have seen, so far.
But, I haven’t watched too many movies with a schizophrenic character.
Angel Baby, I watched, yesterday morning, and the most realistic parts were the shrinks and family overstepping boundaries, as well as some unknown rich creep arranging for “Worst Case Scenario” to appear in the episode of Wheel of Fortune that Kate watched, when her boyfriend, Harry, got fired, on the same day.
I recall that in A Beautiful Mind, they had Nash trying to drown one of his children, when the son was an infant.
I am unsure, if this actually happened in real life.
This was a horrible scene.
If I remember correctly. I dont think he was trying to drown the baby in that scene. He just got distracted by his symptoms and left the baby alone in the bath. No idea if its true or not, though.
Jim carrey film
Me myself and Irene
Hopefully, you are right.

Maybe Billy Madison. He hallucinates a penguin or something.
After a schizo period I had to reintegrate back into society and took a course where we started with basic math and writing. In one of the writing exercises someone answered that the program reminded him of Billy Madison which was read aloud.
It occured to me then that stupid movie could actually be referenced in a deleuzian writing on C&S.
Me Myself and Irene.
It’s so bad it’s funny lol.
Oh I thought you were referring to Bates motel.
