Has anyone tried to withdraw from risperdal consta? How long does it take for you to regain your mental and sexual faculties? Please tell your story!
I was taking 15mg risperidone and after I quit in a week or more I had erection again

Probably. When we lower doses, I have more clarity. The more meds I take, the more is the brain fog and confusion.

@Om_Sadasiva in my experience the long acting injections have a different time frame than pills. I tried to withdraw from the pills and it took 7 months then I got everything back including my psychosis and then they gave me the injections and then I switched but it does feel like it. It’s still effecting my brain somehow

No one out there with risperdal consta tapering experiences? ??
Hey. I was on risperidone oral, not consta. It made me very nauseous and I gained a to. Of weight, so my doctor took me off and switched me to another med. it took about two months before I felt back to myself.

Thx for the reply. Ive also tried the oral and it tolk 6 months for me to recover but last time in hospital they gave me injections and it’s a totally different thing. I just wish i know how long i should expect this to go on. In a french forum they say it could take years
I was on risperidone for 1 month. Then 100mg paliperidone ( invega) injection for 9 months. I had sexual and erectile dysfunction for 10 months, but since quitting my meds on Jan 18th I am back to normal. My testosterone is still climbing back to normal levels so I only have a low libido, but my sexual function is normal.

I have no libido and low orgasmic capacity on Risperdal Consta. And it also has adversely affected my piano performance abilities. I am too afraid to do a med tweak however as it works so well on my psychotic symptoms.

I am on oral risperidone and one .25mg cut put me in agony for 2 years.

How was the injection?
I have normal sexual function and erections on Risperdal 4mg. Maybe my baseline testosterone is high eventhough I killed one of my testicles at 3 y.o. from a fall. I am already bald at 30 y.o. Those who bald have higher testosterone I read.
Im on the injection 25ml. I withdrew from risperidone 3mg long ago, which is way more than what my injection is worth. I had help with abilify for the withdrawals but i could still feel it. I got confused alot while withdrawing. Its true about the erections and libido if youre on high doses. I feel some of it but im also attributing it to smoking and being fat lol.
