Why were you put on depot medication?

  • poor adherence due to forgetfulness
  • oral meds weren’t working
  • court order
  • personal choice,opted for it
  • other

With me it was poor adherence due to forgetfulness . I guess they had two options." It’s not an issue, antipsychotics aren’t that necessary" vs going down the depot route .They chose the latter.

A constituent of living at home. It was a way my parents knew I was on meds because I used to flush the meds down the toilet. Then I started feeling better and they took me off the injection when I became committed to them

Court order here, then I kept taking it by choice, it’s a good med for me I think.

You were arrested? I’m not sure about Portugal but they can only court order here if you’re arrested

No I wasn’t. Here they can court order if you previously refused to take meds. My go had prescribed me an ap, I took it for two weeks was getting better according to my mom but I couldn’t feel it. Then I stopped taking them and a month later I was in the hospital.

Once I was in the hospital and I was all set to discharge on saphris then all of a sudden they were like "PROLIXIN INJECTION TIME ". And I was on that for months. With terrible sideaffects. And then my p doc at the time took me off of it. If only they had said. “Abilify injection time!” I may have avoided my sixth hospitalization.

I’m glad abilify wasn’t the FIRST med they put me on because I wasn’t ready for meds yet and I may have never gone back to it, but wish I had discovered abilify a year earlier than I did.

I couldn’t stand still in the hospital they sure tried to calm me but nothing worked. I took a shot of haldol and my pdoc was happy because I let slip a “for now” when he asked me if I still believe I was God. I was really pissed at myself for saying it  then i started the invega injection and it took awhile. Sometimes I want to find that pdoc and tell him “finally, not anymore”

Yeah I went to an 85 year old p doc for a couple months. Imagine that? 85 years old. But he was the nicest most understanding of mental illness Doctor. I was kinda rude to him at the time. I wanna call him and say I’m doing well and you we’re right about everything! Maybe I’ll do that now.

I think he retired I can’t find his number

I was at first put on Risperdal oral but the side effects was to bad. Then the pdoc put me on Risperdal imi but that was too expensive for me at the time so she put me on Clopixol Depot. I was on Clopixol for about two years

Too bad

Oral Risperdal made my bathroom habits completely impossible. Risperdal Consta doesn’t do this.
