Why do I have little miniature flies all over in my house?

are they gnats? why? What is going on? I’m not a fan of bugs actually so, yea, really if someone could explain why I have bugs that would be awesome. One of them landed in my ranch dressing. Now it’s ruined.

Are they maybe fruit flies? I left a banana laying out for many days once in my 20’s and I had just millions of little fruit flies on it. If they are in your kitchen they are probably fruit flies.

I don’t have any rotting fruit out. Nor have I. But I guess they could be from the plants. But idk why.

" How Did I Get Fruit Flies ? Fruit flies often infest homes with ripe, rotting, or decayed fruit and produce. They also enjoy fermented items such as beer, liquor, and wine. Fruit flies also may breed and develop in drains, garbage disposals, trash cans, and mop buckets."

Fruit flies can also propagate in the drain of your sink. Just pour bleach down it, and that should take care of it. Have you noticed a cluster of them around your sink?

I’ll put bleach in the drain just to be sure

There’s a cover on my trash an I take it out all the time. Could they be coming from the plants?

They can come from drains or plants.

That I don’t know. I’m not sure if they might have an appetite for some plants or not.

thank god they’re OUTside

put a cup with sweet soda or juice and put one (important ONE) drop of dishsoap in it and let it sit, it should attract them and they drown in the soda.

What I usually do for fruit flies is I fill a glass halfway with wine, put clear plastic over it, and poke holes just big enough for the flies to get through.
They’ll go in to get to the wine, but be unable to get out again and die in there.
It’s pretty efficient.

Also, boiling saltwater down any and all drains usually kill their spawns.

Q: What do you call a fly with no wings?

A: A walk.

Because you couldn’t afford bigger ones?

does orange juice work?

Apple cider vinegar works to attract them too with the methods to trap and drown them given above. I’ll put the vinegar in an old waterbottle with a tiny hole in the cap. They go in and can’t come out and they drown.
