It is for aero dyanics… It makes a surprising amount of difference I’m sure, especially for longer bike rides…
Swimmers do the same thing.
So they will look good in a bikini.

I’m not shaving and I ride a bike regularly. My little brothers have full sleeves and they are forever shaving their arms so hair doesn’t spoil the look of their tattoos. Welcome to the new world!
