I use facebook a lot. Good to keep up with overseas peeps and locally as well as the cricket club. Facebook messenger is fantastic for live chat with anyone and I use that heaps on my phone. Otherwise I rarely post my stuff these days but I follow a lot of other folk.
Since I have been searching for work, all those annoying emails from recruiters have come in handy
I have also had a lot of recommendations on there from people I used to work with
It has given me some hope in my job search
When I started Landscaping again, I nearly quit it, but glad I kept it now
Get what you’re saying though - the content on the feed is really irritating
Yes. I’d be using it if I was looking for work. I’m not. My employer is deathly afraid of losing employees at my level now and it shows in how they are treating me. No complaints.
Think it would be good to build up connections though throughout your career.
I have had 4 companies approach me in my old industry just by one post on there asking if anyone had work
The power of that network for opportunities is very high
My old manager, head of insights, CEO and old clients have all shared and written some really nice comments on there to help me out
Up to you, but it’s a tool to use as a back up - it’s the only reason I didn’t delete it!
I do and twitter is my favorite
I don’t need to build up connections. I throw in a resume and there will be a feeding frenzy.
This is true. But at this moment here at least, it’s a noisy environment now people are coming off furlough and quitting
People you have met professionally can get your CV to the attention of the hiring manager with a bow on top!
I’m intending to stick around my company for some time to come. It’s large and not going anywhere. The one that owns us is even larger and I have the option of moving into the underwriting side over there. I have a tonne of internal contacts already and didn’t need LinkedIn.
I use Facebook. I do have a Twitter account but I never use it. I’m on Facebook quite a bit.
That’s cool you have been able to do that.
I have 127 contacts and I think I added maybe 2 people
My networking skills are not that great, so it kinda had purpose for me
Time will tell if it is actually any good
My third interview on Monday at 3pm is from a job on Indeed
Boy did I make a fool of myself on Facebook like 7 years ago. Good thing my mom was able to guess my password.
Haven’t really had the urge to try and set it up again since I recovered. Things are kinda toxic right now with covid and the culture war, might wait a little bit longer yet.
I’m active on Facebook, Reddit, Discord and Tumblr.
I have snapchat, but I don’t use it. I refuse to do twitter.
I am active on Facebook…
I reactivated my accounts today. I change my mind very quickly. There are a couple of people I would else lose contact to. Luckily it’s easy to reactivate.
I didn’t bother with Facebook for years but last year I joined, thought I’d give it a try and I love it. Only other media I use is WhatsApp and this group
I use both FB & Twitter. Twitter is a social media 'curate’s egg. I can handle the political stuff far better than the autistic stuff. The latter’s far too OTT for me.
I use Messenger for a few people and I keep a FB account just for the groups. I did a mass friend delete about nine months ago though.
I have and use a lot of them, not really worried about hacking and stuff, I only do banking on my Imac computer and that’s all its used for
As for the social media accounts, I don’t have a lot of contacts and the ones that I do each seem to like different ones so I have many
