I have gone both online and in person. It wasn’t for me.
No but I’d like to.
I used to, but gave up. You’re not welcome if you’re too high functioning.
I am a member of one. They also publish an excellent paper.
What you do there ?

Sometimes I go to our local facility and just chat with people like myself. It is a good way to meet people locally, they organize many things.
I attended the depression support group organized by local mental health association. The group dismissed now.
I go to this Depression and Bipolar Support Group.
It’s run by a popular organization.
Im getting something out of it, even though I probably don’t suffer with pure Bipolar.
I go to a general support group which I am the only one so far that i have met that has schizophrenia. I am also a part of an outreach program which has activities, so far with them I have only gone to a coffee group and a Easter lunch. Eventually I want to attend more with them, and I want to contact the schizophrenia society of Canada since they supposedly have groups too.
I’ve gone to a twelve step group called “emotions anonymous”. It’s for people who for some reason or other can’t handle their emotions. It’s very similar to AA.
My mom takes me to nami groups sometimes. She likes to go to get advice. When I went there were other people with schizophrenia or other illnesses who shared their stories. The main takeaway I got is that going off meds usually doesn’t end well. I find the support system very helpful. It feels good to know you’re not alone with the illness… but it’s a little sad too seeing people who have problems that affect their family and stuff.
I have also gone to nami group meetings. I find them to be quite helpful.
I eat lunch with the governor back in the day at a meeting over mental illness, both me and my soon to be wife, helped out , in this regard so to have funds for group centers run by people have mental illness. now year late we don’t have them any more. in fact last meet I went to the meet was more for the care givers then the people with the illness, we just don’t get out that much to go to this meets. if it was more then one sided I go more offen.
