What was your experience with them?
I get why people ask these types of questions but honestly the only way to get an answer to your question is to try them yourself. Everyone is affected differently by different meds. You may get a bunch of people saying one is great, then you try it and it is awful. Meds are trial and error, there are no tests you can take that will tell you how you will react or which is better. This includes both the benefits of a drug and its side effects.
Genesight makes a DNA test that can predict whether a med will work well, or give you side effects. It has mixed reviews though. It is apparently about 70% accurate.
That’s cool, first I heard of that. My docs have never mentioned anything like that to me. It’s always been trial and error.
That’s awesome… It must be expensive ?
I’m on risperidone… This med suits me well.
To answer your question @Acilley , i’m on lamictal that’s a really good med for mood disorder.
I used to be very depressive, it enhances the mood up. I take lithium too, and sertraline.
I think it is $270 USD but you can apply for financial aid.
Topamax is a weak mood stabilizer.
My doctors over the years never prescribed this to me.
It’s sometimes prescribed as a weight loss medication.
Lamictal is pretty good for depression and it’s mediocre for mania.
But over all Lamictal is more effective than Topamax for its mood stabilizing properties.
Definitely lamictal. Only one i liked and could tolerate…
I take lamictal. It is pretty good for me
Topamax reversed my ap weight gain but interfered with cognitive domain and created psychosis and paranoia in me.
