he is smart too

I didn’t use that word because I don’t think I’m all that smart

I know some things though.

A lot of people use the word smart. A lot of parents call their kids smart even the idiot ones.
The ones that don’t take school serious, are popular just because of luck, are trouble makers, are snowflakes, have not accomplished anything in life, and are generally stupid. Parents want the best for their kids and exaggerate their abilities.

Instead of stating arbitrary statements like my kid is smart or my IQ is this, focus on their accomplishments and what they’ve done in life and be honest and humble. There are different intelligences that have been identified and IQ is often misstated or inaccurate.

Feynman had an IQ of 120 but accomplished so much and was a genius. His personality was unique and interesting. He wasn’t your stereotypical physicist.

good words of advice

my daughter worries the man she married

their kid is gonna have to be the smartest kid in the class.

When I had a son with Down syndrome, I stopped thinking
it was important to be smart, even though Alec is smart in his own way.

I’m just glad my daughter is so well read, always has been.

There are people with down syndrome that have accomplished a lot in life, more than me. I read or watched a video of someone who had his own restaurant. He seemed happy. Most do. My mom loves people with down syndrome. She told me if I had down syndrome she would have kept me and still had me. She’s a good person.
