Are you average or plus size?
Idk what is average for you
I don’t know how sizes work in your country,
But average here in the states is 14.
That’s considered plus size by most.
If I were you I would go into a store. If you aren’t confident in what your size is, its going to be difficult to know what fits. Plus different brands often use slightly different sizing to each other. A lot of sizes are not mathematically true and are generous etc which can make things confusing.
Maybe look online at stores near you that you might like the style of and then go in and try stuff on?
Zara do really nice dresses (my mum and sisters buy from there) but I’m not sure you will have a Zara near you or not.

My daughter when she moved left behind a very beautiful formal dress and shoes. I gave them to the thrift store. The dress was in perfect condition. The shoe had a little nick on the heel.

My prom dress came from a consignment shop and it was nice. Maybe look there.
