What's a good antipsychotc for negative symptoms?

I have an appointment tomorrow with my pdoc. I’ve been struggling lately with negative symptoms, but I take cloziril and my blood levels have been low lately and she says she can’t raise my dosage due to that. So I was wondering if I could ask her to add a second medication in a low dose plus the cloziril and maybe that would help.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

Abilify gave me a little help with the negative symptoms. I’ve heard Latuda can help with that.

sorry nothing really exists yet :frowning:

what dose of clozaril are you on

Clozaril doesn’t mix well with other meds, or even coffee. Coffee actually increases your blood level of clozaril. So if you’re drinking a ton of caffeine, stop that.

You should know that clozapine (clozaril) is meant to be taken alone and that it is known to help with negative symptoms more so than most other meds.

You could try latuda, it is more of an “activating” drug.

There is a drug in development coming out next year, so stay hopeful. Also, you might feel better to hear that I and many others on here had to try different meds and combinations of meds before we really felt good enough to quit calling our psychiatrists.

I tried three meds and I forgot how many combinations, but the meds I am on today have had me doing a little suspiciously well during the day and then having a mental breakdown when I see my reflection at night when I step out of the shower- I think it beats mental break down all day with four hours of sleep.
