What would you say to your old self

“You think your life sucks and is difficult now? Just wait! Stop being a chicken and put the pilot light out on the stove, slash your wrists!”

I had an auditory hallucination once: “You’ll have to be afraid of your mind forever!” I was like “What? I’ve figured it all out! What is there to be afraid of now?”

My second to last attempt to stop my medication showed me. I could cause myself to have a visual hallucination just by thinking about it. I was petrified! Every time I think I’ve found the solution. Think again. So, old me- do yourself a favor and slash your wrists!

I’d tell myself a few things:.

  • Don’t squander your youth. It is the time to lay the foundation for the rest of your life.
  • Treat your family well. They love you and you will someday regret how you’ve treated them.
  • You have an illness. It can be treated. Take your meds and live.
  • Don’t get caught up in hate. Some hate is good but don’t waste your energy on trivial things.
  • Give your stepfather a chance. He’s a good man who doesn’t deserve the way you treat him.
  • Life has its ups and downs. You will have good days and bad. Nothing is forever, even misery.
