I liked working at the hospital the best. It is rewarding to help people, there is always an activity to do, there are often free meals involved, and you meet a lot of interesting people. I made some friends who worked at the hospital. I would personally find something social since it is fun for me to meet some nice people, no one is mean since it is all voluntary, and you can try group activities like picking up trash together or doing a marathon or fundraiser support. I think the best aspect is the people you meet and the feeling like you are part of society again.

I volunteer for my Church in a church organization. I visit the sick and the elderly. I also call up auxillary members of our organization on the phone and ask them if they are still praying for us active members. I help lead a prayer group in my senior living community. I also run an outreach website. I am the Secretary of this volunteer organization also. My job as Secretary is to keep track of the minutes of our once a week meetings.

What are social security rules on volunteering. I heard once if you volunteer to much you might lose benefits. They might think you can do paid work. I wouldn’t mind volunteering a few hours a week cleaning, but not at the expense of losing benefits. I should call my case worker and find out.
