What should i do now?

I mentioned earlier that my purse was stolen 3 months ago. I asked my dad if i should file a police report and he said I effectively did because I reported it to the hospital in Baltimore Maryland where it was stolen and contacted my bank. I dont think I did enough. I just got a letter that said they updated my 2020 tax return and that my adjusted gross income exceeds $75,000. My income was zero in 2020. It said I claimed a RRC or recovery rebate credit. Not sure what that is or if its different than the $600 stimulus check. It also says I listed qualifying dependents that dont match their records of my last name. I’ve been on hold for 20 minutes with the number it said to call if you disagree with this.

So thats really bad. Could I press charges or sue that person for impersonating me Im really upset. I was in the hospital for an overdose and my purse vanished when I went downstairs for an assessment my dad said he saw the cleaning person sweep up the blankets and thats when my purse vanished…he thought it was an honest mistake, and the hospital person said they wouldn’t compensate my losses for the missing purse, but that they were looking into it…I filed a report with the security at the hospital. my dad said thats just like filing with the police and that WV police cant do anything with my info since it was stolen in maryland…

I had a feeling that person would do this, I mean they drained all my debit cards…I think my dads wrong that the police cant do anything…esp now with this evidence…

I may just hang up right now and try and see if i can file a police report. Its been 26 minutes on hold.

Filing a police report is a good starting point. Also, send letters to creditors informing them your identity has been stolen and that you filed a police report. Then freeze your credit so no one can open up anything else in your name
