Paranoid schizophrenia and depression

schizoaffective depressive type

I honestly don’t know my official diagnosis.

It’s either bipolar or schizoaffective.

I’m probably somewhere between both illnesses, so it’s one big guessing game.

Paranoid schizophrenia

This is from Wikipedia -

As of 2013, with the publication of the new DSM-5, the different subtypes of schizophrenia are no longer specified or differentiated from schizophrenia in the manual. Instead, schizophrenia is viewed as one mental disorder with an array of different symptoms. Treatment for people suffering from schizophrenia is decided upon based on the types of symptoms that are exhibited in each individual case.[14]

I think this from Web MD is interesting too.–

Are There Different Types of Schizophrenia?

Schizophrenia Spectrum –

This illness is now considered a spectrum disorder, like autism is. It’s a group of related mental disorders that share some symptoms. They’re like variations on a theme in music. They affect your sense of what’s real. They change how you think, feel, and act.

The main disorder is schizophrenia. It includes all the previous subtypes: catatonic, disorganized, paranoid, residual, and undifferentiated.

Schizophrenia, chronic depression/dysthymia, social anxiety disorder, and recovered Bulimia…

Can you have Schizophrenia and SAD? My psychiatrist acted like my SAD was nothing more than an extension of my SZ. Maybe I misunderstood her, but that’s what I got from her comments.

What are your thoughts?

Paranoid schizophrenia with depression for a long time… Though my new psychiatrist reviewed my diagnosis and thinks it’s schizoaffective (depressive type) instead. Though she admits the difference is often minimal and hard to spot and therapeutically there is no difference at all.

Chronic paranoid schizophrenia, autism and tremors are the big ones. Subclinical narcissism and antisocial tendencies. Anxiety, I think they have me down as generalized anxiety. Was a hypochondriac whilst being very promiscuous, so not really a hypochondriac.

So many things are technically disorders, it’s ridiculous. Technically I have Fetishistic disorder too, and at that, I have multiple fetishes. Like 10 paraphilias, non-exclusive for all of them. Smoking tobacco is a disorder, I think. There are even disorders for…normal behavior…or at least Mouse is gonna co-author that in the next DSM: “Normie disorder is characterized by an absence of any of the other disorders in this book.”

Paranoid Schizophrenia and PTSD.

It does seem as though there are overlapping symptoms. I was diagnosed conservatively, and without full disclosure with SAD first. Later, when I really opened up and shared more I was diagnosed with sz. I haven’t been told that deletes the other, but I left my last psychiatric clinic soon after diagnosis of sz because they “threatened” to have me hospitalized so I never went back.

You story sounds almost exactly like mine. I’ll ask my psychiatrist next time I see her if they are overlapping; I think you are right and they are.
