Thats the stage before psychosis where someone withdraws socially and begins to have minor positive symptoms. You’re on the internet and you posted this question so you might as well do a google search.

You can get diagnosed mistakenly with depression during that phase.

I have always thought it is a strange word so I followed the posters suggestion and “wikipediaed” it. You can be prodromal in other medical conditions (not just schizophrenia). It is the onset of early symptoms and the word is derived from the Greek word “prodromos” meaning precursor.
