Well, I guess it means when two or more incidents happen that possibly could stem from the same origin happen by chance and is not agreed beforehand.
A lot of stuff that seem coincidental may not be though. For example if someone coughs in a room for others to hear, for example in a bus, then it is proven that there is a good chance someone else will cough as well as it has a contaigious effect or the human mind.
English is not my first language so I don’t know how to explain it better.

Example, you think of someone and then they call, it was a coincidence that it seemed to have happened at the same time.
