What do you guys think about all the American animated shows of our time?

I’m talking cartoons, but not the kind that are just for kids. Simpsons, Family Guy (and other MacFarland shows) and Bob’s Burgers, and then there’s a whole batch of Netflix ones, including Bojack Horseman, Disenchantment, and F is for Family (I love listening to Bill Burr cuss).

Are you guys into animation? Do you still think it’s kid’s stuff? I love it, Will Arnett will always be BoJack to me now that I’ve heard him voice the character. He’s on a Reese’s commercial atm.

I’ve never watched any of those shows

it’s kinda creepy having animation

that has dark and twisted humor

I don’t mind early South Park and most of the early versions of those shows you’ve named. It’s hard to maintain a decent level of comedy over a long period. The english were good like that. Short series. A reason why Monty Python was so good because it was a few episodes.

So. I like them…not so much once your well into it. I still watch them…just not as much!

I used to be up at 4 - 5 AM on Saturday to watch the morning cartoons. Rugrats, Recess, Animaniacs, Captain N, Conan, ton of others. I fiended for them.

I’ve found that American Dad has been fairly funny, even over a few seasons. I don’t mind Family Guy and Bob’s Burgers. I haven’t heard of some of those other ones that are on Netflix. I’m not into animation as much as i was. Probably because the amount of TV i watch is generally quite low. I definitely don’t think Family Guy or American Dad are for children. They can be awfully crude, and the humour is aimed at adult. My favourite comedy shows produced by America include Seinfeld, Curb your Enthusiasm and Frasier.

I like Family Guy. I used to like American Dad. South Park was great.

If you like them, you might like It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia. That show makes me lol.

I still like South Park. Family Guy, The Simpsons and American Dad are still fairly good, though not as good as they used to be, imo. I want to see F Is for Family, love Bill Burr’s comedy.

I like some of the new cartoons, but most aren’t as good as what I grew up with. The newer fare is, frankly, not that clever.

I used to watch the Simpsons in the 90s. Haven’t seen it in years. Never got into any of the other ones.

I like cartoons both for kids and for adults. I watched the Simpsons yesterday

The pilot episode of F is for Family is pretty self-contained, it’s worth watching just on its own

@Wesley Sunny in Philadelphia has a type of humor that reminds me of what you’d expect from an animated show. It’s probably my favorite live-action comedy series.

I really like ummmm, american dad. I watched the whole series earlier when I came off APs and now feel comfortable with the characters and episodes. I might be watching the same show for the rest of my life, haha. I can’t understand other shows, and I can’t understand american dad either, but I find it less confusing than the other stuff, I suppose because I know and understand the characters and have seen any episode.

I used to watch south park to know what is going on in the world, but lately I am not able to understand the plots. Additionally the dialogue seems to trigger me and make me feel bad. I maintain hope that I will be able to enjoy it at some point in the future. Lamictal is an anticonvulsant mood stabilizer which I am soon going to try taking every morning.

I know! I love that show. I usually get quite a few laughs out of it.

I’m surprised you didn’t mention Rick and Morty, with your pic

I like Tom and jerry. And the tweety bird cartoons.

South Park got funny again by seasons 17 - 20 I think it was.

It was hilarious they started to take the top topics of that week and made an episode ripping on it.

This one is funny from around the economic crisis we had

I love Rick and Morty! I guess it didn’t occur to me to mention it. It’s a really good show, hope it gets Adult Swim some much needed attention. Justin Roiland’s voiceovers are great. My favorite character is Mr. Poopybutthole. It’s neat to see a show in its first few seasons that you know will be around a long time.

I refuse to sign the legislation that allows more than… eight Jan Michael Vincents to a precinct!
