My jaw has been moving but I can kinda stop the movements so I don’t think its tarditive dyskinesia. What’s the list of most and least likely to cause tarditive dyskinesia on antipsychotics?
The most is likely to include Haldol and Prolixin…maybe even almost of the old meds except Thorazine and Mellaril in low doses. Least likely are Seroquel, Zyprexa, and Clozapine.
I think it’s more likely that it is akathisia which is one of the most common side effects of Latuda. I had it in my limbs and felt shaking in my chest when I started it. I think after about 6 weeks the chest shaking stopped and within another month most of the limbs were almost normal.
I’d keep an eye on it. I had dystonia on many drugs, but only experienced it in my jaw on Latuda. The moving could be dystonia that is coming on slowly.
A good indicator of whether or not its EPS is past experience. If you’ve had involuntary movements of any sort on another drug it likely indicates that you are more prone to such side effects.
Depending on the cause for the movements - and if it doesn’t become intolerable - there are some things you can try to relieve the side effects. It means adding more drugs which have their own side effects though. It’s hard to win with us.
