What are the chances?

I’ve started smoking again, I know I need to quit and as of tomorrow i’m not smoking any more cigarettes. Also my mom and her husband are moving so I wont be drinking alcohol with them anymore.

Im worried about having a heart attack.
Im 29 years old. Is it rare for a 29 year old to have a heart attack?

I know smoking increases the chances of having one regardless of your age. But is it still rare?

I have 2 smokes left. Im done tomorrow.

This is from Google’s AI Overview:

“According to research, the average age for a heart attack in smokers is typically younger than non-smokers, with studies showing the average age for smokers experiencing a heart attack to be around 54 years old compared to 60 years old for non-smokers; meaning smokers tend to have heart attacks at a younger age due to the increased cardiovascular risks associated with smoking.”

Yes, it’s possible but very rare. If a person smokes they also have to worry about lung cancer. I think 29 is pretty young for lung cancer, it’s not very probable.

You CAN quit cigarettes, and it’s best to do it while you’re still young. I smoked for 32 years…i quit cigs 18 months ago and the vape 12 months ago. My lung function tests have already improved in that time! I don’t miss it anymore and the cravings are nonexistent. At first it was really hard, and it’s the last of many efforts to quit over the years, but this time, and a diagnosis of COPD, meant i was serious. Please give it your best effort! You don’t want to have to use inhalers every day, get yearly CT scans and pulmonary function tests, all the “fun” stuff that comes with chronic lung disease. And think of the money you’ll save! See if your area has a free quit line, too, as they can give you counseling and nicotine replacement products. I don’t know if Canada has that like Alaska does…anyway, good luck! It’ll be hard, but i believe you can do this…

Yes young people can have heart attacks too. It may be less common in the general population but having sz and being on meds etc brings obesity, and some meds give heart problems. Both are risk factors for heart attacks. I’d say if you feel you have heart problems you might. It’s a legitimate concern. I wouldn’t just dismiss it because you’re young. Could also be an undiagnosed underlying heart condition. Young body builders for example are dropping dead like flies from heart attacks. You can have a heart attack at a young age if your heart is in bad healthm

Also in the show my 600 life many people die in their 30s from heart attacks and related things.

What you want me to lie to you? Be healthy

My second cousin is in his late 20s or early 30s and he suffered two heart attacks recently

It’s possible @TheCanuk but it’s not probable

Then there’s the risk of getting lung cancer and other heart issues

It’s better to quit now while your young

You can do this @TheCanuk!

Forget about heart attack, smoking will just overall make you feel like crap. Just try to be healthy. Cut out smoking, alcohol, sugar, salt and saturated fat and brisk walk for at least 30 mins a day and you should be ok.

Have you thought about vaping? I’ve heard it’s easier to quit via vape.

I’ve wanted to, I just haven’t did it yet

Thanks. You don’t even have to push yourself that hard on the treadmill, just brisk walking pace listening to music should be enough. Throw a few punches while you go if the music is right, and it can be a good time.
