I always liked John Cougar’s…

“Oh yeah, life goes on. Long after the thrill of living is gone.”

I also love Nat King Cole’s…

“I hear babies cry. I watch them grow. They’ll learn more than I’ll ever know. And I think to myself, what a wonderful world.”

In a flying saucer full of Italian sausage"

Also like The Tragically Hip’s…

“This is not a dress rehearsal. This is our lives.”

Of course, how could I forget Meatloaf’s…

“There ain’t no Coupe De Ville, lying at the bottom of a crackerjack box”

(From Two Out of Three Ain’t bad)

From Aesop Rock’s 9-5ers Anthem:

Fumble outta bed
And stumble to the kitchen
Pour myself a cup of ambition
And yawn and stretch
And my life is a mess
And if I never make it home today
God bless

“And it’s too late to lose the weight you used to need to throw around”

Pink Floyd, off of “Animals”. (very under rated album in my opinion.)

Whenever I hear that line I think of the bully who used to pick on me for years. He outweighed me by 40 lbs and he was three inches taller than me.

Dr. Hook and the Medicine Show’s “Sweetest of All”

Out of all the nights I remember
Of all of the loves I recall
There are many that live in my memory
But you were the sweetest of all

Right now I’m addicted to this song… It’s not even the kind of genre I like, but I can relate to the lyrics:

Are you insane like me? Been in pain like me?
Bought a hundred dollar bottle of champagne like me?
Just to pour that ■■■■■■■■■■■■ down the drain like me?
Would you use your water bill to dry the stain like me?

Are you high enough without the Mary Jane like me?
Do you tear yourself apart to entertain like me?
Do the people whisper 'bout you on the train like me?
Saying that you shouldn’t waste your pretty face like me?

And all the people say,

“You can’t wake up, this is not a dream,
You’re part of a machine, you are not a human being,
With your face all made up, living on a screen,
Low on self esteem, so you run on gasoline.”

Oh, oh, oh, oh,
I think there’s a flaw in my code,
Oh, oh, oh, oh,
These voices won’t leave me alone,

Well my heart is gold, and my hands are cold,

Are you deranged like me? Are you strange like me?
Lighting matches just to swallow up the flame like me?
Do you call yourself a ■■■■■■■ hurricane like me?
Pointing fingers cause you’ll never take the blame like me?

And all the people say,

“You can’t wake up, this is not a dream,
You’re part of a machine, you are not a human being,
With your face all made up, living on a screen,
Low on self esteem, so you run on gasoline.”

Oh, oh, oh, oh,
I think there’s a flaw in my code,
Oh, oh, oh, oh,
These voices won’t leave me alone,

Well my heart is gold, and my hands are cold.

One of my favs: ‘The Islander’ - Nightwish

An old man by a sea shore at the end of day
Gazes the horizon with sea winds in his face.
Tempest-tossed island, seasons all the same.
Anchorage unpainted and a ship without a name.

Sea without a shore for the vanished one unheard
He lightens the beacon, light at the end of world.
Showing the way, lighting hope in their hearts,
The ones and their travels homeward from afar.

[Chorus:]
This is for long-forgotten light at the end of the world.
Horizon’s crying the tears he left behind long ago.

The albatross is flying, making him daydream
The time before he became - one of the world`s unseen
Princess in the tower, children in the fields -
Life gave him it all: an island of the universe.

Now his love`s a memory, a ghost in the fog.
He sets the sails one last time saying farewell to the world.
Anchor to the water, seabed far below,
Grass still in his feet and a smile beneath his brow.

[Chorus x2]

And another favorite : “Lady in Black” - Uriah Heep

She came to me one morning, one lonely Sunday morning,
Her long hair flowing in the mid-winter wind.
I know not how she found me, for in darkness I was walking,
And destruction lay around me from a fight I could not win.

She asked me name my foe then. I said the need within some men
To fight and kill their brothers without thought of love or god.
And I begged her give me horses to trample down my enemies,
So eager was my passion to devour this waste of life.

But she would not think of battle that reduces men to animals,
So easy to begin and yet impossible to end.
For she the mother of all men had counseled me so wisely that
I feared to walk alone again and asked if she would stay.

“Oh lady lend your hand,” I cried, “Oh let me rest here at your side.”
“Have faith and trust in me,” she said and filled my heart with life.
There is no strength in numbers. I’ve no such misconceptions.
But when you need me be assured I won’t be far away.

Thus having spoke she turned away and though I found no words to say
I stood and watched until I saw her black cloak disappear.
My labor is no easier, but now I know I’m not alone.
I find new heart each time I think upon that windy day.
And if one day she comes to you drink deeply from her words so wise.
Take courage from her as your prize and say hello for me.

Ohh, can’t anybody see
We’ve got a war to fight
Never found our way
Regardless of what they say

How can it feel, this wrong
From this moment
How can it feel, this wrong

Storm… in the morning light
I feel
No more can I say
Frozen to myself

I got nobody on my side
And surely that ain’t right
And surely that ain’t right

Ohh, can’t anybody see
We’ve got a war to fight
Never found our way
Regardless of what they say

How can it feel, this wrong
From this moment
How can it feel, this wrong

[INSTRUMENTAL]

How can it feel, this wrong
This moment
How can it feel, this wrong

Ohh, can’t anybody see
We’ve got a war to fight
Never found our way
Regardless of what they say

How can it feel, this wrong
From this moment
How can it feel, this wrong

How i yearn for the silence
Or an end to the voices
The calamity grows
And the darkness leads to disarray

nobody sings it like her
