Lyrics that get to you

Sometimes during a song, I will latch onto pieces of lyrics and feel they hold a special meaning to me.

Whenever I listen to this song,

I always feel as if I can really relate to the last verse.

"How come no one told me, all throughout history,
the loneliest people were the ones who always spoke the truth?
The ones who made a difference, when withstanding indifference?
I guess it’s up to me now, should I take that risk or just smile?"

What lyrics can you relate to? What lyrics usually get stuck in your head?

You don’t know what it is
But there’s got to be more
:musical_note:

I don’t know if there’s a lot of meaning to it but every time I hear Billy Corgan sing

Drinking mercury
To the mystery of all that you should ever seek to find
Lovely girl you’re the murder in my world
Dressing coffins for the souls I’ve left behind
In time
We must never be apart

I get the chills

There’s also ‘Mrs Potters lullaby’ by Counting Crows

"Well, I woke up in mid-afternoon, 'cos that’s when it all hurts the most.
I dream I never know anyone at the party, and I’m always the host"

“It’s taken me fifty thousand separate wrecks to get here
and i’ve learned absolutely nothing”

I feel like that sometimes.

When my daughter went through a time of cutting I just wanted to be this for her. I still cry every time I hear it.

Radiohead - pyramid song - ‘there is nothing to fear there is nothing to doubt’.

The pearls you hold in your hand are beautiful to see. Why is it you won’t show them to anyone - not even me?

For you are like the others he said - I never can be sure that it is just the pearls you want and nothing more.

everybody loves a rose. Will you be thankful for the thorns?Love is easy when you’re loved

All Together Separate

I love that guy’s voice and he’s handsome too.

Grateful Dead box of rain

What do you want me to do,
To watch for you while you’re sleeping?
Well please don’t be surprised
When you find me dreaming too

I feel so unsure
As I take your hand and lead you to the dance floor
As the music dies, something in your eyes
Calls to mind the silver screen
And all its sad good-byes

I’m never gonna dance again
Guilty feet have got no rhythm
Though it’s easy to pretend
I know you’re not a fool

Should’ve known better than to cheat a friend
And waste the chance that I’ve been given
So I’m never gonna dance again
The way I danced with you

Time can never mend
The careless whispers of a good friend
To the heart and mind
Ignorance is kind
There’s no comfort in the truth
Pain is all you’ll find

I’m never gonna dance again
Guilty feet have got no rhythm
Though it’s easy to pretend
I know you’re not a fool

I should’ve known better than to cheat a friend
And waste…

Glass of milk…
Standing in between extinction in the cold
And explosive radiating growth
So the warm blood flows
Through the large four-chambered heart
Maintaining the very high metabolism rate they have
Mammal, mammal
Their names are called
They raise a paw
The bat, the cat
Dolphin and dog
Koala bear and hog
One of us might lose his hair
But you’re reminded that it once was there
From the embryonic whale to the monkey with no tail
So the warm blood flows
With the red blood cells lacking nuclei
Through the large four-chambered heart
Maintaining the very high metabolism rate they have
Mammal, mammal
Their names are called
They raise a paw
The bat, the cat
Dolphin and dog
Koala bear and hog
Placental the sister of her brother Marsupial
Their cousin called Monotreme
Dead uncle Allotheria
Mammal, mammal
Their names are called
They raise a paw
The bat, the cat
Dolphin and dog
Koala bear and hog
The fox, the ox
Giraffe and shrew
Echidna, caribou

Outnumbered a million to one All of the dicks in this dick town Can’t keep Johnny down Men piled up in a towering mound None of them once has found a way To keep Johnny down
Spending days by myself Remembering slights I’m not a monument to justice Plus which, I don’t forget a face
And they can’t (down, down, down) Can’t keep Johnny down (down, down, down) They haven’t yet built the man (down, down, down) That’ll keep old Johnny down (down, down, down)
Some dude Hitting golf balls on the moon Bathroom in his pants And he thinks he’s better than me I’m pointing a finger at my own face They can’t know what’s in here And they can’t keep Johnny down
Beneath my dignity To flip off the guyWhen he pulls up alongsideTo say my gas cap is unscrewed
And they can’t (down, down, down) Can’t keep Johnny down (down, down, down) They haven’t yet built the man (down, down, down) That’ll keep old Johnny down (down, down, down)
And they don’t (down, down, down) Don’t know what I’ve seen (down, down, down) They can’t know what’s in here (down, down, down) And they can’t keep Johnny down (down, down, down)

lately I’ve taken to vacantly making repetitive movements mistakenly seen as improvements
nearing perfection but wisely electing to shun my reflection preferring instead shoe inspection
cheese and chalk do not talk but their eyes synchronize with a secret rhythm
which is a way one could say that I love you for psychological reasons

mumbling failure in jail my extremities flail and I wail though my arms and my legs to the chair are nailed
under the table unwilling unable the torture’s medieval the dream is a fable with feeble wings
why does the mouse share the house with the louse they won’t say but they feel their feelings
doesn’t subtract from the fact that I love you for psychological reasons
reasons I can’t really go into now
reasons we should probably not get into right now

I’m ashamed to admit I’m afraid of assuming the blame for my lame abnegation of braveness and fame
brain in a jar in a car in reverse I’m rehearsing the way I’ll replay how to say how to be where you are
flammable undiagrammable sentiments pass between animal beings
hard to explain but it’s plain that I love you for psychological reasons

why does the mouse share the house with the louse they won’t say but they feel their feelings
doesn’t subtract from the fact that I love you for psychological reasons
reasons I can’t really go into now
reasons we should probably not get into right now

love this onion!

I love this song also. Lyrics speak to me quite a lot.

"Love your ego, you won’t feel a thing
Always number one,
The pen with a bent wrist crooked king
Sign away our peace, for your war
One word and it’s over
Dropping your bombs now, on all we’ve built
How does it feel now to watch it burn, burn, burn?
Raise your weapons, raise your weapons,
And it’s over"

I can’t explain so much pain. I could never show it.
