We stayed at the large island of hawaii and flew into hilo and toured all over the island in a rental car. Instead of a hotel we rented a house in a rural community not far from farmers markets and locals. Jet lagged with a headache, from illinois to hawaii it took over 20 hours to get there. If you don’t like being crammed in a plane I don’t reccomend it.
Anyways, I’ll try to post a few photos in time.
Sounds like a cool and interesting experience. I never want to go to Hawaii though. I’m not crazy about beach atmosphere

well at least you can mark “Hawaii” off your bucket list. I also don’t really dig on the beach scenario, I lived in Florida three times and something bad always happened to me when I went there so I just don’t like the beach. good for you for going though and welcome back !!
I value traveling because traveling broadens me in ways I want to be broadened.

Trying to get some pics up it’s been a busy holiday season that much is true. Weds I have a va housing inspection and they’re very thorough. Hope they don’t find that bong.
We all went to the big island of hawaii itself. If you want to rub elbows with locals go to the big island instead of Oahu or other smaller islands. I reccomend you take a smart phone with to find the farmers markets. We rented a house in rural big island hawaii, through air b and b. The bed and breakfast website, don’t be afraid to use it yo.
Hotels suck, use air b and b and travel and see things and keep your body and mind away from hallucinations by staying busy taking it all in.
I hope you all get a chance for a week long tropical vacation during the cold winter months as I did with my gf. It really was alot of fun, her family came along…in fact her family traveling to hawaii was the reason we went.
Go figure.
