Weird Friday evening plans

Cant you find something safer to do this weekend?

I am going to go cow tipping.

Idk.

No plans just my usual musical instruments and such.

Enjoy your polar dip.

I think you got my plans beat!

I’ll be hanging at home most likely…

Possibly wrapping presents or cleaning and listening to music.

Ya know, basic stuff lol

It’s fairly safe right down to the fact that I own my own AED (don’t ask what it cost, even used). Probably no worse than going rock climbing or skydiving. You have to remember that I have a different viewpoint: Everyone dies of something, but not everyone LIVES while they are alive. I’d rather live a shorter, enjoyable life than just exist for as long as I can until I no longer do. That’s just survival. I moved beyond surviving a long time ago. I want to LIVE.

You remind me of that book about the guy diagnosed with schizophrenia who has to do a stupid stunt every year or something to affirm that he’s crazy so he can stay on benefits.

Can anyone tell me the name of the book?

I downhill mtn bike a lot. Its pretty high risk zooming past trees and stuff. Always a roll of the dice.

There was a couple of incidents i heard about this year where one guy hit a tree and had a heart attack. And another guy that is known in our riding community crashed and became a quadriplegic.

So i generally thank my lucky stars after a ride

Testing your safety gear under controlled circumstances is stupid? Simulating an equipment failure under controlled circumstances is stupid? The point of this is to be ready if a paddle trip goes sideways under challenging conditions.

I think the guy in the book dove through a plate glass window wearing a sundress, so youre diving through sheet ice wearing skin tight neoprene

It’s open water that I am wading into and lying down in so I am just barely covered. You make it sound so dramatic.

This is designed for winter kayaking. I have also done polar dips before. They’re fun.

My daughter is there for backup as a safety measure.

This is also clipped to me and it updates my location every 2.5 minutes. Every 30 seconds if I hit the SOS button. It talks directly to Globalstar sats.

I hope you have fun @shutterbug i have a heart leak. I’m afraid to do certain things cos of it like theme park rides for example.

I admire your courage. Be careful though.

Avoid the things your doctor says to steer clear of, try and do the things you are told you should do more of, and have fun watching your doctor’s face at the next visit when he realizes how you violated a grey area with extreme prejudice.

I swam in Loch Lubnaig at 0oC, the water was classed as another level of cold at that point, my face was partially exposed and it did sting, not gong to lie but i managed a very short swim in a beautiful Loch in Dec and i was really proud of myself, i wish i could do that sort of thing again, i still have all the gear…

Have Fun and don’t die is all i can say, i get what you mean by wanting to LIVE instead of just living, i totally get that, even with my fatigue.
