We Might Be Treating Schizophrenia All Wrong

Interesting article @everhopeful :+1:.

Good to know there are still people out there doing some pretty exhaustive research and learning more each day about SZ-spectrum illnesses.

The link to the scientific publication:

Autoantibodies against NCAM1 from patients with schizophrenia cause schizophrenia-related behavior and changes in synapses in mice (Shiwaku et al., in Cell Reports Medicine, April 2022)

Cell Reports Medicine has an impact factor of 17, which is quite high. I hope the study gets replicated. If it’s replicated, it will be a useful clue for further research and treatment.

Until it has been replicated, one must not get one’s hopes high.

I asked my pdocs for a brain MRI as I thought I had an abnormal brain but they refused and said they’re sure I have sz and no need to confirm it with a brain MRI.
