Today I realized I am a cyborg and that most of the people in the world are too and it wasn’t helping. So I took a break from the phone and internet, TV and radio. I just listened to the sounds in my building and thought. I realized that people invented ways to escape nothingness, that in the past people had low tech like books or musical instruments if they were not working. I realized people are addicted to their devices and that they may one day have them jerked away from them, if the world ends by 2100 like I think it will. I realized people cannot stand being alone ever, which I don’t criticize though I am so solitary. Then I realized I was wearing a watch, which I look at often.
It’s a valid point. In the 1950’s they advertised that society would move forward with technology and things like ovens and dishwashers would give us more leisure time…Moving forwards 50 years and where we used to have more familys that could survive on one income we now have it where most people need two incomes to survive and all those tools have become things that enslave us more to an ideal…
It’s not the place to ask why but I don’t feel a slave to tech. I like it and incorporate it into my life. I love that my fitbit tells me I’ve done 20,000 steps today because it helps me work towards goals that I really need. I love that I can connect with my peeps over in America daily and touch base with you people here at sz.com.
I have enough alone time in my life but crave society…You can achieve both for sure but it takes some work.
Technology devices are tools. They have good uses but some of it can be addictive. So you must practice moderation
