Watching Porn at an Early Age Linked to Poor Attitudes Toward Women

Dude, that makes no sense at all. Would you compare saying a hurtful thing to someone to killing them? Both actions harms them, so therefore they’re both immoral and should be illegal, right? No. Check your logic.

Making something relatively innocent that might in many cases not even harm anyone illegal, when it can thus generate a lot of money for other criminal activities that do inflict serious harm on people, is a problem because the costs of making it illegal would outweigh the benefits. You can’t use the same logic for pedophilia or contract-killing, because both are extremely harmful. That’s why your argument comparing people who watch porn with pedophiles and contract killers was weak. Now please don’t make this into another useless discussion where you try to nitpick everything I say for hours.

China, Vietnam, Iran, Saudi Arabia, perhaps Cuba. North Korea will put you labour camps for just watching South Korean soap operas so I’d say the DPRK is taking it a bit to the extreme.

What about children? I’d like to have kids, a job, a wife, a house, relationship with friends/co-workers… life is a multi-threaded approach. Well I see the immediate family as most important as they are your bloodline.

Having an occupation is important. It defines what you do for a living.

China and Vietnam will jail or fine you for having a pornographic magazine? Really?

They all are. They are all ruled by authoritarian regimes. :face_with_raised_eyebrow:

@exhile these things may matter to you, but they don’t matter to many other people.
I respect that these things matter to you.
I don’t care about my bloodline.
The problem with what you wrote is that you wrote these things interest people in general, making
a generalization from your individual case.
People are diverse and different people have different attitudes to life.

I didn’t say you would get jailed. Perhaps fined but yes it is not appropriate to own pornography.

Authoritarian based governments are stable and rule the country. Some have shifted from a command economy to a market based economy since the fall of the Soviet Union. But the DPRK is a closed economy and loyalty to the leader is taken seriously, too seriously IMHO.

I agree completely, everyone has different values, different things that matter to them. I’m just stating my own values.

The original argument (illegal porn is bad because the actors would have been treated bad, which IF we don’t add anything could be used to support pedophilia) didn’t mention the harmfulness IN FACT you added it now , THEREFORE the original one is incomplete and THEREFORE weak.

No, you just misunderstood the argument. Again. The part about porn actors was an example of how it could be harmful to criminalize porn. It was not the actual argument, and I think I made that pretty obvious when I preceded the part about porn actors with the word “like”. If I didn’t think more highly of you, I would assume you were purposely misrepresenting my posts. At any rate, you’re wasting your own and my time again.

It is impossible to waste time when you are mentally ill

I would encourage everyone to stay away from porn, regardless of the effect that it may have on one’s attitude towards women, it’s simply not good for your brain. And that should suffice to disqualify it as something to watch.

Having quality sex on the other hand with a quality person, good. With your spouse, even better.

When I was about thirteen or fourteen pornography got a lot more explicit, and a lot more available. Kids today see things before they are six years old that kids of my generation and preceeding generations used to didn’t see until they were at least a decade older. Personally, I watch some pornography. I don’t know if it is wrong to do that, and I sometimes wonder if it has affected my relationships with women. They say the women’s movement is divided right down the middle about this issue.

Just watch female empowering pornography. Done. Next topic.

I first wached it when I was 8…as far as long term effects I see it completely different now. I think its your intensions…I could be wrong. I always treated women like equal but to be honest in my later relationships I was a bit more dominant. That was with a decrease with porn also…so I dunno. What about when porn wasn’t in the norm? like in the 1920’s…men still wanted more power or normally had power over women. I think its like so called “sex”…it sounds a bit off for me…I rather call it making love. (some women don’t like this concept). Iam not saying its not emotional for them…but ive seen/been with lustful women.

Wow, from post 8 to 56. Good job on discussing porn guys!

(I haven’t read any of it.)

These websites in the OP have about as much base in reality as porn or professional wrestling.

Idk if getting off on role reversal makes you hate women.

I don’t think there’s anything wrong with it being you have chosen to be alone. It’s probably not right to watch if you’re in a relationship with somebody though.

if your in a relationship then maymbe you should decrease it if it bothers the other person. It depends also though like I said earlier…dont lust…i actually don’t like most porn…or try not to watch it. It just gets more graphic and weird fetishes as the years go by.
