Viewing cologne and perfume as oppressive?

Any former cologners and perfumers here?

Of course I did go through a department store cologne phase. One day I was driving and smelled the person ahead of me who had their window down. That’s when I realized how powerful it is, and that my own cologne probably wrestles people to the ground and holds them until hours after I leave.

Whenever I smell someone from across the parking lot there’s only two words. “Dude, stop”

I sometimes use essential oils in various combinations, lightly

oh my lotions do have perfume, but it’s also light

oh my shampoo and conditioner too, oh crap, I probably smell

My ex used to shave and put on the jovan, we would call it smellies, I would love cuddling right into his neck and breathing it in, that stuff is intoxicating

I love perfume. I like Coco chanel madamemoiselle. I have been wearing that one for years. I also like Chole " love story" I even wear perfume to bed. I am truely obsessed. Lately I have been keeping it light in the house and only wearing white musk from the body shop. I love white musk.

I can’t remember a musk I didn’t like

I buy Dollar Store cologne…in other words, I smell like a dead 16th Century pirate.

I dont like perfume/cologne because they give me a headache. It makes the air difficult to breathe in. I think that beyond the expensive bottle design is an ingredient list with 100 chemicals i cant pronounce… probably toxic or carcinogenic. I like sniffing essential oils for the naturslness every now and then. Or smell sample the latest brand perfumes at the store only. For fun.

Oops. I shouldn’t have attacked people who wear bottled scents. Well, it’s like a see-saw at the playground, I went from too pro to too con after cologne trauma.

I’ve developed a scent allergy. Some of them give me hives and make it difficult for me to breathe. One of the many reasons I avoid public places.
