In other words, this study seems to show exactly why you might feel really great after hanging out with friends on beach, but pretty down on yourself after spending time surfing Facebook alone.
I wonder if the same can be said of our web forum / online community?
Or the otherwise:
i feel much better since deactivating mine!
I didn’t grab a quote but there was something in the article about getting perfected views of friends’ lives or something like that - so social comparisons are made to idealized versions of other people’s worlds. I don’t think schizophrenia.com is prone to the display of exaggerated successes, and I’d imagine it would be more helpful than harmful from a support standpoint, but I think facebook is a nightmare, anyway, so I am too biased to have an opinion.
“Using Facebook actually makes you feel depressed, research shows”
I’ve been in website communities that depressed me more than facebook.
one-way conversations are depressing.
I want to know why the folks with hundreds of friends on facebook, never can find a real person in real life to help them out?
