Tremors from lithium maybe?

I have essential tremors in my hands. Since starting lithium, they have started in my neck too so that I now nod my head back and forth. It is perceptible. While visiting my family, my niece was sitting next to me on the sofa nodding. I thought she was keeping time to music that was playing, but after a while, she leaned over to me and whispered “Why are we still nodding?”. It is pretty bad.

Has anyone else had tremors on lithium? Is there an alternate to lithium that doesn’t cause/ increase tremors? I want some ideas to ask my pdoc about because she didn’t seem all that interested when I messaged her about it. It is affecting me enough that I am ready to quit the lithium though. And I really need the lithium.

My other meds make my tremors worse, too, and though I’m taking primidone to try to fight them, it doesn’t do much. I still spill drinks, throw food, struggle to brush my teeth, can’t put on eyeliner or paint my nails. It just sucks. I worry that people think I’m a druggie or alcoholic. People ask if I’m cold or if I have Parkinson’s. It’s embarrassing. I know I shouldn’t care what people think, but I do.

Hey, hi Heather!
I was on lithium those 3 last months, but it gave me weakness in the hands and the legs, plus I was feeling also fragile in my mind… It made me even more anxious, I didn’t appreciate this. But it had benefits, yeap, so its a pity… I started to talk more, It calmed down my emotional pain a bit too… But the anxiety on it was pretty bad for me, but maybe I am not schizoaffective.
Depakote doesn’t give me shaky hands, I am on it since years too. Idk for lamictal.
Sorry if I am not big help, but continue trying  .

U can see how rispridal work u just take it anna… aps dont destroy ur brain…

Does risperdal work okay with tremors? That is one of the few meds that I have never tried. Does it help paranoia? That is a major factor for me, possibly worse than the hallucinations.
