I am excited about tonight we are going to my sister’s house way out in the country. I am day 2 of not smoking but I am going to be tempted with all the beer and moonshine at the party no doubt. I am laughing because I’m not smoking right now, but truth is, I don’t want to spend the money on cigarettes is why I’m not smoking. ? haha another day in forum land with me haha right @Sarad man I got to do this quit now…Merry Christmas !!

The family has asked me just now to make seafood and chicken gumbo for them when I get there today. I love love love making gumbo and this is going to be the best Christmas ever !! Except that I’m broke.

We’re having turkey Christmas day and seafood (fish and lobster) chowder is figuring into this somehow, somewhere, I don’t remember.

I’m stressed out that I’m expected to make parties for holidays.
I just can’t do this anymore after 25 years.
There is another party at my sister’s house. Can that be enough?
If my son wants a party why can’t he do it now? He’s 22.
I just can’t do this any more at least this year.

Yes, I am not drinking anymore since I gave up cigarettes. It is day 2 stopping smoking. I truly feel great about this Christmas, gumbo has a smoky broth with shrimp oysters and white chicken meat. it’s delicious.

Merry Christmas!! We are cooking chicken and sausage gumbo for lunch at my mother in law’s tomorrow and then fried turkey with my parents and sister for dinner. Hope everyone enjoys the holiday season.

my gumbo isn’t spicy. I put a “touch” of cayenne" in it but only like 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper in a huge pot of roux and cooking stock so you can’t really notice the cayenne. @TomCat I hope you can share a picture of your gumbo, I don’t have photo loading capability sorry. Just got back from the Christmas Eve party and it was a lot of fun but a few too many people there for me.
