Today’s appointment with the perinatal CPN

I’m a bit dis heartened because she told me about a psychiatric hospital not too far away that admits mums and babies.

The last thing I want after birth or late in pregnancy is to be admitted to psych ward. I want to be home with my baby. But she said there is a chance I can relapse.

I think it is good to know your options, and it’s good there is a resource like that for you. I hope you don’t have to use it, but it’s awesome that you know you can if you need. Post-partum hormonal shifts can cause psychosis even in moms with no history of psychosis, so it’s good for anyone to plan for the possibility of needing that resource.

I agree with Ninja,

It’s good to know those resources are available.

I had a psychosis after I had my baby,

With hormones and everything, postpartum stuff can be brutal.

I’m not saying you will have the same problem,

It’s just good to have a plan if you do.

When I was first hospitalised there was a woman there with post partum psychosis. She was only there for a short time.

It’s good that they’re on top of things and thinking that far ahead.
