Thus Spake Zarathustra

Not really. He was very outspoken against nihilism. I don’t know if you say this because of his views on religion, but Nietzsche personally hated nihilism. This book cured me of my nihilistic views.

I think we’ll have to agree to disagree for now.

It’s been a long time since I read his works.

I have one of his books. I’ll have a flick through as I was not in a good place when I read it, so if my perceptions were a little off I will admit defeat!

I think you could say its a cult following

don’t recall ever being taught him in college

it’s something you latch onto on the side.

A lot of my professors have actually seemed quite fond of him. It’s definitely a college thing. He is one of the greatest modern philosophers. His views on women were shitty, but so were probably his views on many things. That doesn’t make his other views uninteresting.

I read all of Herman Hesse at the right time in my life

and I think he made me feel that being an individual

is truly your best bet at achieving an actualization of life.

For those who are interested, there is this movie about Nietzsche - https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0760188/?ref_=nv_sr_1
He had a mental break once.

Philosophy, religion and self help books.
Thats my triggering books
I am mad cause philosophy might help me to form a view on the word.
I am mad cause religion might help me see what views the great fathers had and get a more abundent idea of what religion teach
I am glad I can’t read self help books, they’re not for me, I’m more a “think man” then a “do man”

Religious texts are far the worst for my psychosis and I keep trying every two months to read some. Haven’t successfully read a religious book yet.

Anyone who goes against ignorant religious personnel are heroes in my book.

I used to read Alan Watts, osho, thich nicht Hahn. Lots of spiritual philosophy books. My favorite was Carlos castenada a spiritual fiction series.

I think we can learn a lot from Monks and religious leaders.

Of course we should take the religion of theyre preaching and focus on the healthy advices they have.

They learn people to be more content and have higher values in the world. To bad they’re only do this for God and not for becoming a superior being.

Superior being is my propuse , religion philosophy helps

The worst has got to be those praising God, and living in dire straights.

I read that some people who read Nietzsche suicide. So depressing.

Yes i suppose some of their principles can be valuable.

Like you said though, they doing it for the wrong cause unfortunately !!

That’s not what I meant. Most of theyre motivation is blinded by being on the good side of God instead of being a superior man/women which has many benefits for people around them and for them.

Nothing wrong with that. Religion helps a lot of avarage people

Thats basically what i said

Like i said, their principals and " self fulfillment " ideologies are alright, but their motive behind their agenda is based on religious context… Religious leaders and so called “prophets” are in my view highly delusional lol.

I found the book and the notes written all over it are not connected to what he was saying on the page.

I am in the same boat as @anon92220549 in that philosophy books are no good for me and I find them triggering.

@ocky8 Ignore my posts, I had a mental image of Nietzsche shouting at me from the grave and blocking out peoples faces with shadow driving me crazy whilst reading his books.

@anon9798425 I still however maintain that as a course of the above, some people are unable to read these things properly when they’re ill. Not all as I stated before.

I’ve bought a collection of Nietzche’s books but never read them. I should have. I guess it would have been hard to read, but I watched some youtube videos about his views on eternal recurrence. I’m not saying eternal recurrence is true (I feel like it’s wrong but also right in certain instances/circumstances). I don’t know, I feel like I was punished and tortured in a past life for believing and promoting eternal recurrence among other things. It’s definitely wrong, despite me being stuck reincarnating into a very, very , very similar life where I’m always schizophrenic. I guess the universe is more challenging and confusing than even I know. I’m a nobody, but I believe he has a point. It could be true. Does it have to be right 100% of the time?

I’m not complaining or mad, but I’ve been living with the same family (whom I love!!!) and look like the same person for billions or more of lifetimes. Conversations seem to be the same too. Same buildings and cars and everything. Same planet. I think reality changes maybe 1-2 % but I don’t even know what that entails or means. I mean I feel like I’m in a time loop but that there are other parallel universes/ worldlines out there that are slightly different than ours.

The same people die the same way and it’s ■■■■■■■ sad and disturbing.

I can change my own outcomes but at the cost of mental instability and paranoia.

I believe the government has time travel/time reset abilities. I believe we live in a simulation. Philip K. Dick in 1977 talked about something similar to eternal recurrence without mentioning the name. If we live in a simulation, maybe then everything is on repeat? I remember the government (maybe aliens?) putting me in a time loop as a form of punishment in a past life. I was hurt very badly and yet I still have the memories. What’s the difference between a time loop and eternal recurrence? I don’t know…Maybe I’m stuck in a time loop for eternity.

I think eternal recurrence can make things change slightly, but I don’t know. I I believe we found other Earths/parallel Earths in my past lives.

If I didn’t have schizophrenia, I could improve my life. I could make it better.

I am speaking in terms of Political Dynamics and Political History, not Philosophy or even Spirituality.

I’ve read a few of his aphorisms. One about women says, “If you’re going to see a woman, remember to bring your whip.” He was very chauvinistic when it came to the female gender. One of his aphorisms I do like is, “When you feed the hungry you refresh your own soul.”
