For those who quit smoking did your symptoms get better? Ive read that smoking can make voices worse. and i smoke like 10 cigs a day.
No, actually smoking reduces meds’ effectiveness
I tried to quit vaping cold turkey. Got visual and tactile hallucinations until I caved and vaped again.
My pnurse told me nicotine sometimes helps keep positive symptoms at bay.
I quit smoking and my symptoms only increased.
So you feel it’s better to quit?
Others think it helps?
I think it was harder in the short term but much better in the long term.
I think it helps some people.
The withdrawal will suck ass no matter what, but for people who hallucinate they will suck even more.
But I’m sure in the long run, it’s better to not smoke.
Agree it’s tough to quit but the addiction is real
My paranoia and auditory hallucinations got better after I quit but it took a long time (couple years)… I think it was really a matter of not trying to take on too many responsibilities.
I never smoked but heard it was hard to kick
I quit smoking when I was 21, did not make a difference to me.
I quit smoking 4 years ago and my symptoms got worse later. I don’t think it was connected though since it was 2 years after that I had a serious psychotic break.
A lot of disease comes from smoking, it’s about overall health
Ingesting nicotine seems to help lessen my voices. I vape now rather than smoking though.
Every time I try my symptoms get worse, I’ve never gotten past that, I always go back. I do wanna quit but the short term woes(ig) outweigh the long term gains in the moment.
Best thing I ever did for my health both physically and mentally was give up the cigs. I’d suggest doing some exercise. Replace the negative with a positive and you’ll feel way better.
I quit May 2011. I was having breathing problems. I was diagnosed with emphysema in 2017. I smoked for 35 years.
I quit 3 months ago with cigarettes. Still early stages and still take gum. However, feel liberated to not be Forced to smoke all the time.
I love your avatar!!!
I had quit smoking for about 5 years before my first hospitalisation. I don’t think it made any difference. I picked up the habit again during my hospitalisation which is a sucky thing to happen.
Now I vape. I’ve been vaping for years.
