Last year we had the most rain ever recorded. This year after above average rain again we had almost a month of no rain with 90+ F temps lasting into October. During that time I was surprised that the wind often came from the north during the day (usually that cools it down), and the heat became more like a dry desert one and the temps in September were higher than the ones from June-August.
Now there is some payback. It finally turned cooler a few days ago and today it rained heavily and evening storms caused a brief blackout. Tonight I was woken up at 11 am by weather alerts. As I woke up I heard the counties mentioned and tried to remember which ones were to our west as I hadn’t had to do that in a while. Then a tornado warning occurred. I found out that the storms were to our east and moving away. from here.
Now it’s finally calm. I don’t have a good collection of winter clothes due to recent weight gain and don’t know what fits me any more. As tomorrow is supposed to be relatively cool I find I didn’t lose any weight as I hoped I had from my recent diet and wonder what to do now as colder days approach. I was beginning to think I could wear shorts year round as shorts are easier to wear for me as long pants don’t fit well. I simply have a big gut and its hard to deal with.
Sounds like it’s time to go to a thrift store and pick up some warmer clothes
90+ F??? Sounds like you live somewhere winter is just an excuse to wear different clothes… how cold is it usually during the winter where you live?
Ebay is good for bargains too.
Sweat pants are comfortable with weight gain
The coldest it usually can get is 0-10 F at night. (it’s been a long time since it’s been below zero but in the distant past there was a night it reached -10 F and didn’t get above 0 F. during the 1980’s). It does usually snow at least 2-3 times during the winter and stick but there’s been times all we had were flurries. Once every few decades we have a really bad ice storm that knocks out the power and does a lot of havoc. The heaviest snows of over a foot come once or twice in a lifetime. One Winter it reached 80+F in February, and many Winters it can reach the 70’s a few times. The first frost is usually in late October and the last frost is usually early April. We’ve had a few tornadoes in Winter. The earliest and latest snows were right around Halloween, and mid April (it snowed a few inches on the grass with a low of 33 and was melted in the afternoon with a high in the 50’s.)
Yeah I’ve tried that but the pockets are usually too small to carry much.
It sounds like you just need a jacket dude. I don’t really bother with scarves and gloves and stuff until it approaches -15C. Which is 5 in your imperial temperature units.
