The purpose of life?

you wanted to enter to this world so you entered, you chose your parents

yeah but they are happy not becouse they are married, they are happy boecouse they are happy

Humans evolved from apes hunting for meat or gathering edibles from trees. Humans procreate and settle onto new lands developing villages, communities, towns and cities.

That is not logical although I understand the “teaching”.

not everything is logical in this world, there are insticts also intuition feelinjgs wich are not logical

Happiness or sadness is dependent on how the individual is and if they have a partner who may or may not share that happiness or sadness.

It is a teaching in Evolution. No one can tell us as if he or she was an ape, right?

There is a common ancestor when comparing primates to humans. For example skeletal structure:

But does understanding in Evolution make you happier, shenzhixian?

The purpose of life is to survive as long as possible and procreate so the species can survive as long as possible. If you want more than that you have to give it your own purpose.

Human evolution is knowledge. I don’t understand why you are correlating the understanding of evolution with being happier.

Yes, life expectancy is increasing around the world. People want to live as long as possible.

That are animals and plants, not humans. Humans want to find out purpose and happinees in life.

Anyway, thank you for joining the discussion.

You named it. Yes, it is one of the purpose in life.

The purpose of life is to live purposefully.

Meaningful circular reasoning.

Not really circular reasoning. Until he found the purpose or he would live purposefully. Good quote.

No, it’s not a quote. It’s just something I thought of. But I think it’s pretty circular. Your life has purpose when you live purposefully, and you know you live purposefully because your life has purpose. The meaning of the phrase is that the purpose of life can’t be derived from logical reasoning about life, but is something personal and subjective that we decide and experience for ourselves. No one can tell you what your purpose is, and you can’t tell anyone what theirs is either.

Maybe the fact that there is no way to reason about the meaning of life makes life more meaningful.

I think we are just animals. We have made survival so easy these days that we now have the luxury of doing other things with our time. Ancient humans were in a constant fight for survival just like animals. Now we have the luxury of sitting around and thinking all day. I think the higher purpose thing is just something someone made up because they were bored. If you want one just find something fulfilling that makes you happy and run with it. I think most religions would say your purpose is helping other people. That sounds like a good one.

Ok. Let me think about what Treebeard and BLURG have just wrote.

Genetics, hereditary traits and some possible environmental factors such as upbringing and education are somewhat of a good predictor of a person’s purpose or what they will will do/become.
