I have a question, on which streaming-platform can i watch the movie?
Thanks
I don’t know which site for watching it
it was made in the 1990s]
brilliant movie
The movie was called “Rain Man”. I saw it in the theater when it came out btw.
According to a 10 second internet search, the person the character was based on did not have autism, but a condition called “savant syndrome”.
The character in the movie did have autism but the real person he was based on did not.
It’s pretty rare that movies actually stick to the real life events without large modifications. Usually they try to make it more interesting or compelling.
Like “A beautiful mind”
ok I heard the wrong info on the movie about autism , I stand corrected by your post
I legit thought he has Asperger’s. He is used as an example character when people reference this disability.
I watched a documentary on savants. This guy was in it. He’d remember just about every fact he’d come across. He read constantly and would read two pages at once. He was the son of the ceo of some car company maybe GM. There are other people like him who never forget. He was disabled in many ways though.
one of the few movies I will watch with Tom Cruise in it…still a great movie…
That’s correct. Hoffman’s character was based on Mr. Kim Peek (1951-2009), a man with a brain abnormality, which is a common characteristic of savants. Autism is considered a disorder of neural connections, not limited to a specific region of the brain. Thus, not all people with autism are savants, and not all savants have autism:
Good one. I’m a fan of both Hoffman and Cruise.
I think on YouTube you can rent it for a few dollars
