The candle light ritual: wars, conflicts, JWs and other

Again came another Friday evening and I had my candle light ritual. Many thoughts came to my mind such as when I had my first rituals in 1999 during the Kosovan war. I thought how hard it was for ordinary people when they had no electricity and they had to use candles to light their rooms. This war was just one conflict in the greater timetable of wars and conflicts around the world. You may still remember how the Western forces withdrew from Afghanistan a year ago and when the Taliban took power again. Then we have the war in Ukraine and other conflicts such as the drug war in Mexico. These events do not seem to end ever. Then there are other types of situations such as the persecution of the JWs in Russia where peaceful JW people are given multiyear sentences just because they have practiced their beliefs and shared documents and other materials. The memories from the USSR come to my mind when the JW people were given 10-year sentences just because they did not follow communism and practiced their beliefs peacefully. My grandmother was a JW pioneer. These were thoughts that came to my mind today. Peace, hope and life.
